For those of you who have never heard of Pete Stringfellow let me introduce you! Music writer, producer and Country Western performing artist, he holds a Masters Degree in interactive multimedia and more than one degree in music.? I had a unique opportunity to speak with Pete on the phone last week and his speaking voice alone raised my temperature several degrees! Then, he did the unthinkable and broke into song, over the phone. I was asking what had inspired him to write the song, ?Santa Rosa? and he shared with me that many songs talk about someone?s hometown; that?s when he broke into a much-to-brief rendition of ?Sweet Home Alabama.? The song, ?Santa Rosa? an ode to his hometown where he still resides but splits his time now in Nashville Tennessee with his wife and young family.? I wondered if there were particular places that he made a point to visit when he came home, but his focus was all about the people he missed. I feel a song coming on, and hope? to be on his list of people to contact when he returns.
I enjoyed sharing some of our personal similarities; the first name of our mothers, some of the local places remembered growing up and the School that we both attended ?Piner High? although he might have been a year or so behind me.
Sonoma County is one of the few places in the country where you can wake up in the morning and see hot-air balloons dotting the landscape, landing on top of a home, drifting down the 101, scaring our local Bovine?sometimes I think they take off directly from the wineries. Sweet Home Santa Rosa, I wonder if there is a song in there too?
Regardless of Pete?s next song, I?m certain he will have at least one foot firmly planted in Santa Rosa, and I will always be glad to hear his voice!
